When old patterns keep repeating
You may understand yourself well and still find yourself returning to the same emotional or relationship patterns. You may know why you tend to take care of others, keep difficult feelings to yourself, meet high expectations, or adapt to what your family needs—and still find these patterns difficult to change.
These ways of coping often developed for good reasons. In therapy, we can become curious about where they came from, how they continue to shape your emotional life and relationships, and what might become possible when they no longer have to work quite so hard.
WHAT WE MIGHT EXPLORE
Relational & Intergenerational Trauma
关系与代际创伤
Early relationships and family experiences can continue to shape how you relate to others, respond to conflict, and understand your own needs, even long after you recognize where those patterns began.
Emotional & Relationship Patterns
情绪与关系模式
Closeness, conflict, boundaries, shame, anxiety, or emotional distance can take on familiar patterns in relationships. Therapy can help us notice what happens between you and others and what these patterns may be protecting.
Culture, Family & Identity
文化、家庭与身份认同
Culture, immigration, and family expectations can shape how you understand responsibility, belonging, success, and identity, especially when you are navigating more than one cultural world.
WHAT THERAPY WITH ME IS LIKE
I tend to be active and engaged in therapy. I may ask you to stay with a feeling that comes up, reflect something I notice, or help connect what is happening now with experiences from earlier in your life.
I may also notice something happening between us in the room. These moments can help us understand familiar patterns as they unfold, rather than only talking about them afterward.
Therapy is collaborative. I may offer observations or questions, but not as answers about who you are. We make sense of your experience together, with curiosity about how these patterns developed, what they have helped you manage, and whether they still serve you in the same way.
